I don’t understand HOW these fakes that were “revealed” before the real ones look so similar, like they’re literally the same species and I wanna understand how did this happen. Both cats have long whiskers,this is too much.

This is because the Japanese names of the starters, which translate to “wood owl”, “sea lion ball” and “meow fire”, had already been registered as trademarks early by Nintendo, so they had some hints to work with.
