Can attest it was in the news recently that Tennessee has locked a prominent gun dealer up for selling guns in a parking lot without checking IDs or anything (he sold them to an undercover reporter, proving investigative journalism isn’t completely dead yet).

Also given the long history of voter fraud in the US, IDs for voting = kind of a good idea.
