How did it even happen, there was no internet for us to get our grubby little paws on, no memes making fun of children’s shows, it was just a bunch of small telepathically linked children hating a purple dinosaur in unison ???

we had the one with the baseball bat and 2x4 but we also had one that was a parody of a parody of joy to the world

Perhaps killing barny was the original meme? I assume it started at one school and someone went and told their cousin at christmas or something and the cycle continued until it spread like the worlds largest game of telephone which is why there’s so many variations.
