no mom you don’t get over social anxiety by talking to a stranger a few times and seeing that it’s “not that bad” stop forcing me to talk to store clerks when i need help it makes me feel sick and it doesnt make anything better you fucking asshole

and parents wonder why their kids dont want to talk to them about stuff like this

my mom’s got the whole “nothing’s gonna change until YOU change it!!!” attitude like thanks mom it’s true the only reason I have crippling anxiety and depression is bc I’m just too damn lazy to try, like, not being that way

me: hey dad, how do you do (important thing) can you help me with it?
dad: you’re an adult, figure it out
me: *doesn’t do it our of fear of messing it up horribly*
dad: stop being such a baby, it’s easy
me: *messes it up horribly and asks dad for help again*
dad: you made your mess now you clean it up
me: *is dying inside*
