maybe not, but in this whole customary gift giving thing, it’s way more common that the gift is more symbolic than anything else. and i’m sure that if the pope really wanted to play it, he’d find a way. the point is less that the pope be able to use the gift and more that the gift represents something.
Exactly. That’s also why a golden Xbox controller (I’ve seen people suggest one instead) wouldn’t work either because it doesn’t represent something important, it’s just an opulent decoration. And this is the popes who threw out a golden throne in exchange for a regular chair as a. symbolic gesture that he is a man before he is pope. Basically, get that pope some symbolism. Popes love symbolism.
