Rose may still be evil, but i don't think she's Pink Diamond. In When it rains (i think) Peridot says Steven is "some form of quartz". If he was a diamond, wouldn't she have known?
Diamond could still be a title. Like, yellow diamond isn’t actually a diamond gem, just a really powerful gem and influential. And from what we’ve seen about roses power which includes being able to possess, heal, create an organic army, telepathy, fly and who knows what else… of diamond is a title of power, then she more than earns it.
