No what’s fucked up is that there’s not just one alternate timeline in Steven Universe there are multiple. A bunch of Stevens came and started fighting in the water temple, meaning there are a bunch of time lines where Steven just vanished from existence.
There are multiple iterations of Greg putting up missing child posters with the crystal gems, there’s multiple Garnets who know what really happened thanks to their future vision and probably a good handful of them who couldn’t tell the others what really happened.
There was the same conversation repeated over and over
“Connie have you seen Steven?”
“No why?”
“He’s not been home and it’s getting dark…I’m worried about him.”
“MOM MR UNIVERSE SAYS STEVEN IS MISSING!”
How many pearls do you think just broke after their Steven vanished, do you think any of the Amethyst kept it together or do you think they all cried in their rooms alone at night but acted like it wasn’t a big deal around the others.
Do you think Pearl searched for him? Do you think Greg ever gave up looking?
What about the Homeworld gems, how many versions of Jasper destroyed the temple board by board in search for “ROSE QUARTZ.” How many times do you think Ruby was shattered for kidnapping Sapphire after being returned to Homeworld. I wonder if the cluster ever emerged in these alt times or if it tore itself apart, with out the crystal gems ever knowing it was there and it was their team mates….
How long do you think lapis stayed in her mirror crying and wondering if any one would ever really notice she was there…
