I can confirm none were held at a Disco.

The 20th Century and 21st century aren’t any better though. There were major economic crisis every 20-30 years there too, starting with:

  • The aftermath of World War I. About 25 years after the panic of 1893.
  • The Great Depression of 1929. Unique in that it comes only 10 years after the last major event and, in some places like Germany, was simply an extension of the aftermath of WWI.
  • The aftermath of World War II, where the governments of the world had to shift from war to peace and shift everything back around and fire a bunch of soldiers. About 15 years after the Great Depression.
  • The 1973 Oil Crisis, which plunged the global economy into a recession until the early 1980s. About 30 years after the WWII aftermath started.
  • The Great Recession of 2008. About 35 years after the 1973 Oil Crisis started.

Those’re the major events, though. Minor recessions/economic scares occur every 3-5 years and that’s a trend that’s held steady for most of America’s history, with the 1990s being a glaring exception.

Most of these coincided with events felt in other countries too, such as the Long Depression in England occurring at the same time as the Panic of 1893.
