What If your species evolved to the point they knew that tool use would be like, beneficial to their continued development as a species. But they still manipulated everything with their mouths. The evolutionary process just missed out the necessity for grasping.
Would the first invention quite literally be a tool based around building a better method of using your limbs to manipulate tools so you didn’t have to struggle on using your face as a primitive claw?….Like, boom, goats have human level intellect. Would the first goat to invent the hoof mounted … I dunno, hand be a thing…
