I love how everybody’s saying that one new Pokemon starter is “too edgy” because it has a black/red color scheme

‘Cause if that’s all it takes to classify something as edgy then…

There’s some pretty edgy Mickey comics out in the world

And not to mention the games.

I’m sure you guys remember that wii game, epic mickey. And if you don’t, let me give you a rundown.

In epic mickey -thanks to a certain mischeif caused by the mouse- a demon of paint and thinner is unleashed in a land of scrapped concepts, unloved characters and forgotten concepts created by Yen Sid out of paint (so it HEAVILY affects them that a giant jar of thinner was dropped on this place), turning the copycat of Disneyland for retired cartoons into the Wasteland, a place of depression and constant danger.

So, years passed and mickey forgot about what he did to the place (he only thought of it as a scale replica of an amusement park, he didn’t knew it was an actual living world), but he was eventually dragged into the land by the demon because after achieving fame, he has the key to leaving the wasteland: a heart that represents your viewership, if you don’t have a heart you can’t leave since it means you’re forgotten.

Now stuck on the wasteland and after adquiring a magical paintbrush (one that uses both paint and thinner to affect the land and the people living in it), the game presents morality options:

Either you become the goody two shoes of the more modern family-friendly cartoons by painting everything and generally helping the people by refusing to use thinner.

OOOOR you can be a jerk and use thinner to erase everything in your path, they’re forgotten characters, who cares if they die or are unhappy, right?.

Now, here’s the funny thing, when mickey uses thinner the most (the evil option of the game) some paint oozes and scatters from his body as he moves around but he still retains his very much iconic appearence.

The creators of the game originally intended for mickey to become more sinester looking, monster-like even.

Meet scrapper mickey, actual concept art for the game. Hilariously -in a game about scrapped and forgotten concepts- THIS was scrapped, mostly because disney said no, we ain’t doing this, please stop.

AND IF THAT WASN’T ENOUGH another concept art suggested an alternate form of scrapper mickey, in which he apparently absorbed paint and thinner from the demon when he was dragged into wasteland:
