The map of the world as you know it is hugely distorted. This new depiction, created by an artist from Tokoyo, is probably our most accurate version yet. No matter how you view the AuthaGraphic map- flat, as a 3D triangle, or as a globe- the continents and oceans always stay proportional. Source
There’s two kinds of accuracy in map making. Accurate size or accurate shape. You can’t really have both, unfortunately, due to the problems of depicting a sphere as a flat surface.
This one looks like it gets the size right but has to sacrifice some of the shape accuracy to do so. Look at Brazil and Alaska. They’re very distorted.
