During one of his lectures, Bertrand Russell mentioned “Given a contradictory starting point, one could deduce anything.”
One of the students decided to challenge him. They said “Given that 0=1, deduce that you’re the pope.”
Bertrand Russell responded thusly:
“If 0=1 then 0+1=1+1 or 1=2.
The pope and I are two men.
Therefore, since 1=2, the pope and I are one man.
I am the pope.”
