If an abuser said “I couldn’t control myself, it wasn’t my fault I abused that person! I was influenced by this fictional work! Its creator is actually to blame here!” nobody would take it seriously, right? Nobody should be taking it seriously. And yet, antis are saying this shit for them, so they don’t have to. Thus literally enabling abusers by giving them something else to blame for what they did. I’m not into it. I don’t care if my abusers had all been reading the nastiest, most fucked-up fanfics in the world, I want them to be held accountable for their direct damage to me. I don’t want vulpixdicks666 on AO3 to be blamed for something that would have happened whether or not they wrote about an age-gap ship (that username was just a random example I made up but if it actually exists it’s the coolest username ever).
