answered:
- cut off funding for MGSV before development was finished, resulting in an incomplete game
- cancelled Silent Hills, a highly-anticipated reboot of a franchise that had lost its way long ago and was a personal labor of love for many of the people involved (Kojima, Norman Reedus, Guillermo del Toro, Junji Ito)
- removed the extremely well-received Silent Hills demo from the playstation store, had sony forcibly delete it from the PS4s of people who had downloaded it, and refused to acknowledge that this had happened or that it ever existed
- kept konami employees in borderline abusive conditions for the last year or so of MGSV’s development, maintaining constant surveillance, forcing them to use randomized company email accounts that changed every two weeks, firing or demoting employees for communicating or otherwise expressing concern with the state of affairs within the company
- when MGSV won awards internationally, konami forbade kojima from leaving japan to receive the awards (hence the jokes about them locking him in a basement)
- scrubbed kojima’s name from all packaging and promotional materials for MGSV months before release and assumed nobody would notice
- even after kojima productions was reformed as an independent studio and most of the talent had left konami for the new studio, konami retained ownership of the metal gear franchise, which they promptly proceeded to shit all over with pachinko machines and zombie spinoffs
but yeah, 2015-2016 konami has been a nonstop chain of disasters to the point where people have seriously considered the theory that they’re intentionally trying to scupper the company (possibly due to organized crime involvement)
Also, if rumors are to be believed, Kojima and his team were working on MGSV as a next-gen only game, but partially through development Konami demanded PS3/360 versions, which fucked up development massively.
It was confirmed they forced Hideo to work in his office isolated from the rest of his the team, so they might as well have locked him up.
A lot of people understandably said they would buy MGSV to see the series through to the end, but not a single Konami game after that.
