i just don’t see how it fits? she starts out as a girl, disguises herself as a boy, then reveals herself to be a girl. so at what point was she not biologically and mentally a girl?
so it’s based on the idea that she was already trans before disguising herself as a boy? i mean. i guess that’s within the bounds of reality. kind of far-fetched.
the pronoun thing, i didn’t know about. i suppose that’s evidence that something is up. but even if she were trans, she’d still be referred to as ‘she’, right? so how does that work
the bathroom joke, i’ve been hammered with ever since i made that post. it seems too vague to take as evidence either way.
looking similar to someone who came from the same parents doesn’t really seem like hard evidence to me. besides, her brother is like. way taller in this picture. doesn’t that make being twins impossible?
as for Coran, seems rather flimsy.
in season 1 he said he immediately knew Pidge was a girl when they met. i’d chalk it up to writer or voice actor error, if anything.
the pronoun thing, again, i don’t get. don’t really have any comment on that, just confused. maybe it’s just the writers fucking with us, feeding headcanons. is “genderqueerbaiting” a thing?
Pidge is no more trans than mulan or zelda/shiek. Women disguising themselves as men to do some military thing is a trope that’s existed for ages. It doesn’t mean they’re trans.

pronouns depend on the individual; some people want to go by vague pronouns like they (or even it, but ha…that’s a whole thing right), even when they identify strongly with a binary gender. also theres headcanons that pidge is nonbinary, so the they pronoun being used is a big deal for that hc.

And the fact they don’t match up is important. Because it means different things. Also think about it this way. If they wanted the joke not to have any meaning, any human could have been the one to have that dilemma but they had pidge be the one. Additionally if they wanted pidge to be trans and show it, this would be a good way of hinting strongly/saying subtly that they are.

A lot of these comments. Also spongebob joke isn’t comparable to this bathroom scene for a lot of reasons. First the SB bathrooms were completely indecipherable were as the boltron space bathrooms parallel earth gender binary (i.e. Pink and blue). Secondly spongebob and Patrick have never shown any confusion with their gender/sex/presentation there of. Where as pidge has had that he a main plot focus for at least an episode. So in comparison the context of the two doesn’t really match up …

we don’t know if biologically she is female. we don’t know that for total certainty of course for any characters. and pidge is refered to with they pronouns in the comics. plus that bathroom joke in season 2 which resonated with trans viewers (even though it can also be taken at surface level of just being an alien culture shock joke. whatever.)
I am Silver Tongue, I am an artist. I have many characters and you can check out my art in the art tag. I occasionally practice witchcraft though I don't do anything too complicated. I am girl 2 and don't know what else to put here.
