In 1926, mystery writer Agatha Christie became a real-life mystery when she suddenly vanished after her husband asked for a divorce. Ten days later, she was found living in a hotel under the last name of her husband’s mistress with no explanation for how she got there. It’s still unclear whether she’d attempted a publicity stunt, acquired amnesia, or, as some theorize, tried to either frame her husband for murder, or simply ruin his weekend with another woman.
