A 5e party consisting of a wood elf monk, a gnome wizard, a half elf bard, and a halfling barbarian (me)
For background info: we need to get am item from a giant chief, so while our wizard tries to cast Geass to convince her, a pair of hobgoblins detect him and try to stop him with a spell of their own

Me: I shout out to the chief calling the hobgoblins traitors who are attempting to hurt her with magic. *rolls 2 persuasion - 1 charisma"
DM : Do you even speak giant?
Me: Oh they don’t speak common?
DM: “Ok well you shout your message out in common to the Giants” *rolls wisdom for Giants to see if they believe me and rolls a 2 with a negative 1 wisdom mod* “they don’t think you’re a liar, but they also don’t believe you”
Monk: I back the barbarian up in his claims since I actually speak giant *rolls a 3*
DM: *Rolls nat 1 wisdom* “Ok now they start to question the hobgoblins, I can’t believe this is working right now”
Bard:“ I cast shatter on the hobgoblins and claim that they cast it and are trying to hurt the chief” *rolls above 20 persuasion*
DM: “Hahaha ok ok, so the giant chief covers her ears and orders for her minions to stop the magic casting hobgoblins”

We then proceeded to kill both hobgoblins while the wizard stayed back channeling his spell, in the end we got the conch and were able to walk out of an infested giant community without fighting any actual Giants.
