One day in the busy season when we had a callout
Me: Thank you so much for being patient ma’am I apologize for your wait.
Customer who had been on hold for 20 minutes : What is going on? Why did I have to wait so long?
Me: Well, I’m the only one here at the front today. We had some call-outs. What did you need today?
Customer: Well, now I need to speak to a MANAGER! They need to get you some HELP!
Me: Well, ma’am they are both with customers at the moment but I believe they’ve tried to call someone in. Can I help you with something in their stead?
Customer: It’s just UNACCEPTABLE to only have one person working up there. They need to make someone come in. But yes here’s my overly simple issue…
Literally three days later when I was losing my voice
Me, clearing my throat and trying to speak clearly: Hey how can I help you today?
Customer: Oh honey are you sick?
Me: No it’s just my voice I’m fine. What did you need?
Customer: Well I need to talk to someone not sick. You should have called in.
