How about the way it implies that the fairies have such an unapologetic and accepted shallow culture by the fact that Roland cheating on Marianne is deemed alright by her dad because he’s a pretty boy? Or the way it says “Fuck you!” to the socially standard definition of beauty by having Bog, a classically unattractive character (both to the fairies and a normal audience) not transform into something classically attractive by the end AND get the girl, who is also a princess (and seen as classically unattractive by those in HIS culture AKA the goblins.)

not to mention he didn’t spend the entire movie chasing after her. he wasn’t doing anything to explicitly win her over.
