-Instead of being a boardgame, Jumanji is a video game in this reboot.
-That cast picture is not the “protagonists”, those are their in game characters (which they become when the game sucks them in)
-They are doing this cliche thing where the real life humans are playing their polar opposites (ie, the rock is the avatar of a nerdy guy)
-Jack Black is the playable character of an IRL female character, so you can imagine what kind of jokes to expect.

Supposedly it’s supposed to be a sequel and not a reboot… which only makes me feel… mildly better…

I will say that the the characters and outfits look exactly like what a jungle video game would have. Jack would be an NPC though.

Frankly The Rock keeps being in movies that by all accounts should suck but end up not, so I’d give this the benefit of the doubt solely based on him making movies he’s in damn entertaining.
