this is the last chance to defeat the Hunger, right? i’m pretty sure both barry & lucretia have said something along those lines, anyway.

but why? why is this planar system the end of the line? i’m sure the Hunger consumed plenty of them before arriving at the ipre’s world, and theres surely plenty after. so - and i don’t remember if this has been confirmed in any way yet - the ship must have been broken somehow.

let me remind you: barry fell out of the sky and died. lup is dead in a cave (presumably guarding her relic, and she couldn’t have been in there before the blast or else there’d’ve been no trace of her at all, just black glass - but this is off-topic). taako, merle, magnus, & davenport remembered nothing. lucretia said re: the relics’ creation that she was against it and was ‘overruled’. she had a holy symbol specifically to keep out lich!barry and, necessary or not, acting or not, she was basically shit-talking the red robes the entire podcast.

let me remind you: this is a ship powered by love and friendship.

so: this disagreement was enough to crack or sever the bonds they’d formed over one hundred years. one hundred fucking years. their soured relationship couldn’t fuel the spaceship, so either they landed and couldn’t lift off again, or the engine cut out mid-flight and they crashed. hell, maybe barry fell overboard. maybe that was the beginning, or maybe it was the end. either way they can’t escape this time - this world’s tech just ain’t enough. they’re stuck, and for the first time in a century they won’t live to fight the Hunger another day.

tl;dr; there was some major, MAJOR fucking falling out between the red robes and that’s what lead to a crashed ship and one very last chance.
