Concept: Alternian washing machines are organic critters that douse clothes in digestive bile, the chemical composition changing based on whatever settings you enter + what other chemicals you add in

Pros: your clothes will be incredibly clean

Cons: putting in the wrong setting means it will literally eat your clothes

???: there’s probably a setting you can use to get rid of a body and leave fresh clothes behind

I’ll bet it gets out bloodstains nicely, too. But you’d probably have to be careful washing delicate fabrics with stuff like cotton and polyester because they might disintegrate or, at the very least, get some holes. You’d have to do a separate wash while adding something to lower the strength of the bile.

I guess there would be pipes attached or something nearby to pipe out fecal matter and such. Washing machine malfunction or pipe problems can be…Highly unpleasant and possibly caustic if your washing machine is violently ill.

Delicate fabrics should never be put into a washer set to deal with denim and other, “hardier” fabrics, and said hardy fabrics won’t actually get cleaned properly if put in on a lower setting; gentler cycles are good for getting dust and dirt off, but not at removing actual stains from sturdy material.

There’s also manuals online for setting up the washing machines to melt flesh but leave bones intact, for whatever reasons you may have for that, as well as how to chemically “hack” them to dissolve even tougher organic materials like wood or plastic.

Remember to keep your washers fed–at least one full load of laundry OR a single scoop of most types of pet food every two nights will keep it in peak health, reduce the need for maintenance, and prevent it from taking its toll on your outfits. Also remember to clean out the ‘trash tray’ below every now and then to recover buttons, coins, small bones, and other such things that were found during the washing process. A properly attended washer can get any stain out of any fabric, but an improperly attended one will just eat your favorite pants.
