One Piece makes so much sense of you interpret it as a long running tabletop RPG.

#like no seriously#one piece#all of the straw hats are the PCs#the various speech quirks are the DM doing voices#just#everything works so well if you see it as a bunch of players messing with the DM’s plans in the most glorious way possible#in that they stay in character and the DM couldn’t really tell them no in character creation#‘you want to play a person who transforms into a reindeer?’#‘no I want to play a reindeer who transforms into a person’#‘what do you mean you want to be a cyborg’#‘I wanna be the best swordsman’ ‘oh thank goodness that’s normal#what style do you use?’#‘three sword style’#’…’#‘I hold one in my mouth’

“did you know the rulebook has rules for fire-starting?”

“what?”

“it totally checks out! i ran the numbers, there’s nothing in the rules that says-”

There’s actually a web comic that does this.
It’s called Grand Line 3.5 and it has one of my favorite DnD jokes
The character who plays Luffy has a special D20 that he uses whenever he rolls for diplomacy… It’s special because every side on it is a 1.
