you know whenever you see someone gushing over fairly detailed fanart and saying “this looks better than the show” or “why can’t the show look like this” that they know jack about animation
psa for those of you reading this, you can compliment something without putting down something else. there is no singular convergent goal of “best art” in the world. its all good art! its not a competition
exactly! For some reason a lot of people think putting down other artists is a great way to compliment an artist, but a lot of artists it’s really not? Most people do not want to be used as tools to attack fellow artists. And if they’re drawing fanart they probably like the dang source material and so especially don’t want to be weaponized against it? It really isn’t a good feeling to be used like that.
and yea, it’s like, art is so varied and subjective and that’s a wonderful thing. Different things work in different occasions. And it’s so superfun to see things drawn in different styles and there’s no reason to bring that down by making it a competition
