It’s always amusing when a customer comes to me and is like “I am commissioning you, give me a price and we’ll get started!”
Then I give them a price quote and they ghost me.
I’m just like “You thought I charged $10 didn’t you?”
Like the amusing part isn’t that they can’t afford it. I understand that. The amusing part is 90% of the time I get these on DA and they always approach in a way that screams “I am confident that I can afford you, I haven’t checked your prices because- since you’re on da- I am assuming you don’t charge much.”
That or they immediately respond with ‘do you take points’,
Or they don’t even ask for a price at all they tell you how much they have and what they want and expect you to go with it because isn’t 97 points SO MUCH you guys???
Don’t forget when they tell you your prices will scare off potential buyers despite the face that you have regulars who commission you who and you have no problem selling art to people who can afford it.
