stop feeding your compulsion to actively seek out content that you know is upsetting. 

stop visiting tags that upset you (you should probably blacklist them) 

stop visiting blogs that you’ve blocked, and/or that you know is going to post about stuff that upsets you. 

stop hate reading. 

I know from experience that it can be addicting because getting angry about stuff is just a good of a distraction as any. but it’s such a pointless, self destructive, and avoidable source of negativity in your life.

part of me understands the compulsion to do so because i will occasionally seek out things outside of my usual feed that bewilder/upset me just out of morbid curiosity, but i know that i’m doing it for specifically that reason, and unless someone is doing something immediately and objectively abusive or illegal, i honestly have no business bitching at them about it

it’s fine for us to seek these things out for curiosity type purposes as long as one can recognize when one has had enough and it’s time to close that tab and go back to our regularly scheduled programming, rather than dumping more fuel on the fire by jumping in and commenting where there really is no good reason to do so.
