Context: My wild mage sorcerer and her gang just came up on a druid and the two missing nobles we were looking for, both having their signet rings on them we were supposed to collect. (This is Sunless Citadel) and I’m fairly new to D&D

DM: You walk towards a great tree, you can hear a stream in the distance and everything looks quite healthy despite it being underground. In front of the tree you see a woman sorcerer and a male paladin carrying the signet rings you’re looking for, both have eyes that are glazed over. In the back is a druid. They all have skin that looks like wood.

Nia(Me): Are they okay?

Druid: We all are, we have received the blessing of our tree.

Nia(OOC): Why is his skin like that….mmh

Nia: You all look a little off….what spell is that.

Druid: Just another blessing from our tree, it’s a simple spell…

Nia: Could you tell me the name of it?

Druid: What need is there, it’s quite common

Nia: I know much about spells, spending most of my life learning about them after all.

Druid: Well you must not have studied enough…

Nia (OOC): Did he just insult my intelligence…BURN THE TREE

After a fight where we burned the tree and killed the people we had to find in the process
