Just three months after the murderous violence Charlottesville residents were subjected to by a mob of white supremacists chanting “you will not replace us,” voters did just that by electing Black Lives Matter activist Braxton Winston to city council.  40% of Charlottesville city councilors are now African-American, which is double the proportion of African-Americans in the city as a whole.
