I like how the Onion realised that nothing it could write would ever be as bizarre as the current events of 2017, and has instead taken to brutally honest commentary.

This is the worst, but also strangest timeline.

We are watching as what once was satiracle ‘news’ sites do nothing more then be themselves, but slowly, certainly, become real journalist as all ‘real’ journalists devolve into satire worthy jokes around them.

I can almost see turning to some kid in the next 10-20 years that needs help on their goverment homework where you usually have to use a news thing as a source and regal them with the tale that once upon a time, The Onion was a comedy site not to ever be take seriously.

{edit} (i know there are a lot of actual journalists, the great ones espeically are frustrated by how the industry has been changing and basically forcing them out. I wouldn’t be surprised if The Onion was actually hiring some of these guys. And yes, I know that Fox has been a joke even before the push against ‘fake news’ (read: before our fucking cod piece in chief claimed actual news as liars)
