See these? They are reusable menstrual pads. And boxer briefs. Let it sink in, especially if you’re trans/queer. You can rock your masculine side. You can save on pads in the long term. And if you’re dysphoric, you’re saved the trouble of having to grab pads or tampons in a store. (They also have a tampon equivalent and panties with pads similarly built in, but this is post is about the boxer briefs becauuuuse…)

I suggested these to LunaPads a long time ago and they’re finally out! They’ve affirmed their commitment to people of all genders and sexes (their blog posts have mentioned trans men and women, intersex people, and nonbinary/genderqueer people) in several ways, so I was happy to see this finally happen. I love the shit out of this company and want to share the news with all my queer friends while the intro sale is going on. Plus sizes! Other cool non-menstrual products! And when you buy certain products they’ll donate one to someone in a country that doesn’t have access to pads, making it easier for them to go to school or work.

The downside (there had to be one): it’s an expensive investment, an upfront cost that saves you $$$ and trips to the store. The description for these says they’ll absorb about the equivalent of a regular disposable pad before you need a change. But you can also insert their normal maxi-liner type things for extra coverage and easy changing.

My $80 Heavy Flow Starter Kit lasted me 3 years (and I could have stretched it further if I hadn’t started T), which I estimate was about 1/3 of what I would have been paying for pads.

So yeah. Even if you can’t afford their stuff now, maybe take a look around the site and see if there’s something to add to your wishlist. (And a note…I know I’ve gushed about this company before, but I’m not getting kickbacks. I wish all companies cared this much about their customers, because it makes the customers care back.)
