Player: So, we havent had any fights in a while.
DM: Yap.

Player: Some 6 sessions.

DM: Yap.

Player: Well, it IS D&D, aren’t we supposed to fight monsters? I mean, I like the role-playing but there is a combat element.

DM: Oh, I would love to throw in a bunch of random encounters, it’s a lot easier for me then to prepare long role-play sessions.

Player: So, why won’t you?

DM: Realy?

Player: What?

DM: Over the past 6 sessions, we went through 4 character deaths, one exploded village, a rhino on the rampage, a burned down market, and you guys managed to accidentally burn and eat your flying mounts. All without me having anything to do with it. I’m scared I’ll kill the party by setting you guys up against a rat.
