Of note: that first one is from Gankutsuou (loosely based on The Count of Monte Cristo), and it’s pretty much an entire series dedicated to experimenting with this aesthetic (
it also happens to be a fantastic series; highly recommended!)Gankutsuo has it all, Good art, gay vampires, good music, space sex??? (maybe) , and mechs. It’s great.
