Too many copper pieces

The party had run into some bandits who wanted us to pay 10 gold to get by.

My Ranger: Why not just pay them? We have the money and we’re outnumbered.

DM: Roll initiative.

Me: *Rolls crit fail on initiative*

Me OOC: I was busy counting money to pay the toll and missed the beginning of the fight. Since I was planning to pay them in only copper pieces, it took a while.

After the battle had finished

Me OOC: I approach one of the fallen attackers when no one is looking and whisper “Here’s the money you wanted, you prick,” and I drop my sack of 385 copper pieces on his head.

DM: Inspiration.
