Sad but true. I might not get ALL the literary and philosophical ‘sophisticated’ jokes and references but that doesn’t matter because I personally appreciate the psychology and dynamic of the characters. There’s more to the show than just being smart, it’s also downsides of being too smart, too pretentious, too arrogant. Shows the flaws of a family trying to force itself to function like what’s EXPECTED of a family unit, shows how unhealthy relationships can progress or fluctuate for better or worse…
Oh and there’s butt jokes. Lots and lots of butt jokes.
But anyway as Einstein said, “The definition of genius is taking the complex and making it simple.”
If a show was REALLY just made for ‘smart’ people, it wouldn’t cater to those of ‘lesser’ intelligence, but then it would isolate only a select group of people instead of doing the actual smart thing and including the whole with some attempt to simplify certain complex ideas so even the most simple minds can appreciate and enjoy it, regardless of if they wholly understand or not.
thats not even touching up on the people who use ricks behavior as a reason to justify their own shitty behavior. Who see rick as a role model despite the fact that he is a very very terrible person and has been given a “reason you suck” speech which pissed those very same people off.
