i just saw an ad about how the founding fathers wouldn’t foster safe spaces or trigger warnings and all i can think about is when john adams made it illegal to make fun of him

This is true, but you left out my favorite part. The Sedition Act outlawed hatred or criticism towards the government, the president, and congress, but it didn’t include the vice president. 

So, John Adams made it so that the only government official you could make fun of was Thomas Jefferson.
