Beating the trope to death, in our party of 6, we have 5 PCs who are either legit orphans or have lost their parents to various causes. Only one person, the wizard, currently has parents and while the party was discussing our plans to head to a different country to look for information, the wizard had just mentioned that he would like to stop by his parents’ house and let them know that he was going pretty far away when following sass transpired.

Rouge: “Okay, so we’ll go back and let mommy and daddy know that you’re going to be leaving the country.”

Wizard: “Not like you would know what that is like.”

Everyone else lost it at this point.
