In Retribution Gabe tells McCree something along the lines of, “You should know by now, Jesse, I’ll never lead you wrong.” And Jesse says, “Like you’d give me a choice.”

This isn’t super strong evidence but it sounds like Jesse never really got Gabe’s permission to leave Blackwatch and instead followed his gut and left without telling anyone after Genji had left.

This gives more feels to the fact that Jesse wasn’t there to support Gabe in his final hours and find out if Gabe really was tied up with Talon in Switzerland

Isn’t that already implied? I think in his comic he mentions being a fugitive for leaving Blackwatch, he was always supposed to basically stay until he died or was released.

I thought this was established canon? Am I wrong

Idk, maybe on paper it says he left, but me and some others were hoping maybe Gabe gave him permission to leave at some point ;-;
