I’ve recently been really into Isometric D&D maps, and wanted to try my hand at drawing an Isometric map and seeing if I could get it to work with the grid in Roll20.  I’ve never DM’d, so I’m not familiar with the DM tools in Roll20, but I thought it’d be a fun little learning experience.

When I googled, most people seemed to turn the grid off for Isometric maps, but I found I got a reasonably passable result by lining the squares up with a hex grid.  I sized the critters so they’d snap to the squares by centering to a hex above the one I want them to sit on.  The ruler works going North, South, NorthEast/West and SouthEast/West.  However, because it’s actually sitting on a hex grid, it doubles the distance going East and West :(

This is fun and I’m very addicted to drawing isometric monsters now.  I should really work on drawing more maps, they can’t all fit inside that cave! D:
