Medieval Tactics Alive and Well
I don’t remember where I saw this, but someone was talking about how there was this very common Medieval tactic that Kings would use to ingratiate themselves with the common folk…
STEP 1: Do something terrible that most people hate.
STEP 2: Have the queen or princess publicly protest the act.
STEP 3: The King would then say he’s had a change of heart because the queen/princess “moved them” with their words, and relinquish the terrible act.
STEP 4: This has the effect of making the King look kind/generous/empathetic, while opening them up to leverage and bargaining techniques.
So, like… This is happening RIGHT NOW… and I just wanna make sure nobody is fooled by it.
