i mean, the arc reactor was created to replicate the power generated from the space stone so i dont see why he couldnt have been teleported somewhere else

I mean, if there is a single downpoint to this it’s that Thanos was around starting empires and killing people well before Tony Stark was even born. And Obidiah was only blasted by the space energy, not the time energy. So he wouldn’t be able to travel back in time to become Thanos.
