• even tho they’re technically just a mutant version of lime, they’ve got a lot of WEIRD physiology that’s unique to them, ie nub horns = mutant trait. body temp is closer to humans than golds or olives, and also as they age their hair loses pigment and they go gray/white
• body hair! do other trolls have body hair that isn’t on their heads? rarely. do mutants? ALWAYS. hairy little bastards.
• about 50% have carapace plating on their outer arms, legs, and backs (thank @ciravaesthetic & @official-spec for this one, lmfao). it’s mostly vestigial and just kind of a weird evolutionary throwback tbh but it looks cool so,
• have the weirdest transition from kid to adult via molt. most trolls like, still resemble the OG version of themselves once coming out of that cocoon. mutants do too but they get like, a horrifying second coming of new traits. go in as a shrimpy kid with 0 muscle definition? cool, you’re coming out absolutely shredded and with tits, for some reason

What if the mutation essentially makes them a blank slate and they are genetically compatible with humans and carapicians without any risk of health problems in the child
