TIL that there is a card game called Mao in which new players are told only “the only rule you may be told is this one”, which means that new players have to discover the rules by themselves. The aim of the game is to be the first to get rid of all the cards in his hands without breaking any rules.

we used to play mao all the time and when i won once i did the most dickish game and essentially did factory reset after 7 months of rules piling up

  1. sageandginger said: god I love mao so much, there are the gameplay rules and then there are the etiquette rules (no talking, no swearing, etc) and breaking a rule gets you a card (the point is to get rid of your cards) we had one kid break the talking rule and when we gave him a card he said ‘shit,’ earning himself two more cards…to which he responded, 'what the hell, guys’ and got two more, making him swear more. I don’t remember how long that went on but it was a WHILE it was GREAT
