fun fact, if jesus was real he would have been born closer to april or may. the reason why 25th is christmas is because it was a ritual involving the winter solstace that christianity appropriated
Yep I know that, because shepherds n shit wouldn’t be out and about like that in the buttass winter for one thing
Christianity basically cannibalized Peganism in to a part of their own religion and it’s really gross. But they tend to do this to any cultures they can get their hands on, forcing them to change traditions or molding their traditions to Christianity in order to make forcing them easier.
The cross worn around the neck? That’s because of Thor’s hammer being flipped around. Pegans wore Thor’s hammer, it got turned in to a cross which is why it even has the shape it does instead of what Jesus’ actual cross likely looked like:
Thor’s hammer:
Pegan/Christian Thor’s Hammer/Cross combo:
It was a weird compromise where Vikings were like “well I guess we’ll worship the Christian god, too, along with our other gods just so they leave us alone”
They even tried to make the Pentagram a christian symbol by claiming it was the 5 wounds of Christ.
It was
a really awkward time
i didnt know about the cross thing

I agree with you that Jesus wasn’t born on Christmas since it states in the Bible he was born 6 months after Matthew who was born in March/april time frame.
“During the time when the leaves begin to change” so say roughly late September early October. However in order to record the birth of Jesus, Joseph would of had to ride on horseback to Rome which before modern day roads and bridges would have taken close to 2 months which would bring us to a “December” time lime.

But hey! The reply system here is really limited. If you’re interested in talking more about the topic, I’d love to chat with you again =) Been a long time.

You are not wrong to call them bad, but your view on them is focused on the rarities rather than the norms. The vast majority of all vikings were common-folk. Farmers. Skulls for cups and raping was about as common as horned helmets =P And yeah, they were pirates and slavers, which I do not cover for. But they also had one of- if not THE most socially advanced society of the time. Sexuality, Gender, Belief, Race… They only stole because the demand for trade. Not fun.

And you can’t really make the argument of “well they should’ve left well enough alone“ when it’s a lesson that the Vikings themselves didn’t subscribe to. One could argue the Vikings come off looking worse because they knew what they were doing was wrong, they just didn’t give a shit. At least the Church was trying to do some genuine good even if they went about it the wrong way, the Vikings were just being their usual shitbag selves.

That sort of lesson doesn’t work here because we’re talking about the Vikings. The guys who’s whole culture was built around raping and pillaging on a weekly, daily basis. You’re acting like the Church was being a bunch of nosey nellies when the people they were trying to convert towards a more moral way of life were folks known for cutting off other people’s heads for fun and using their skulls as drink cups. I don’t have sympathy for the Vikings. They were really shitty.

The pentagram is supposedly not even that bad. depending on who uses it, it has different meanings.. cross with the top point up was spirit over matter while the inverted or the ‘evil’ spirit into matter. people are strange.
