So my siblings heard me playing D&D and now are like “OH MAN, WE WANT TO PLAY!!!!!”
They all have never played D&D before and like… barely grasp the concept, but I want to run a ‘baby’s first D&D’ one-shot for them. But I’ve also never DM’d before, so baby’s first d&d should include baby’s first dungeon master lololololI’m most comfortable with 5e!
Any pre-made one shot recommendations? Preferably something freeeee hurr durr and something that could be wrapped up in one or two evenings. I’m not super confident about the attention spans of my siblings, especially in a game that involves a lot of math. >__>
Probably would start them very low level just to keep things simple, they don’t know what they’re missing when it comes to higher levels.
phandelver is a solid babies first campaign. its what most people use for new players

Once they start to learn both the mechanics and the game itself, you can move on to character creation for the next campaign.

For super beginners, premake the party. “This is the hittyman, this is the sneakyman, this is the pointy hat, and this is the person who puts everyone back together.”

thedragenda said: My biggest advice us to ban all the complicated classes til they learn the basics. Wizards, bards, warlocks, druids, sorcerers and maybe rouges you should consider blacklisting.

outofworkderpy said: You could also look into 5 room dungeons. I have had a lot of sucess with those for one shots. Its aformula for creating your own bit its not to hard to google premade ones.

The Sunless Citadel is a really good intro for new players, with a single, small dungeon and a good mix of talking, exploring, and fighting. askfuneraldirge said: Pathfinder rise of the runlords is a quest chain from 1-20 but you can stop at any points. Pathfinder has all classes on an online database psrd20.
