TIL that in the 2010 BP gulf oil spill BP and the US Coast Guard used a “chemical dispirsant” that they claimed broke up the oil. Instead it just sank the oil temporarily, made it 52x more toxic, did nothing to clean it up, and is extremely poisonous. BP knew all of this before using it

Remember if you wanna stop climate change consider taking shorter showers uwu

personal responsibility for climate change is a myth because corporations contribute to 71% of global emissions and other pollution.

Okay, yes but no.

Companies are ruled by assholes and responsable of a enormous part of climate change, yes, of course, that’s a fact, but you know why big companies have so much power ? Because you are buying their goddamn products

Stop with that “boohoo we can’t do anything it’s the big bad politicians fault” rhetoric, if all the humans consumed like Americans we would need 9 time the ressources of the earth to sustain everyone.

I’m not saying that Europeans are perfect or whatever, we consume between three and four time more than we should. But in my country at least we are trying to change. Every Thursday and every Sunday the center of the capital are paralyzed by protests. My little cousin is changing the rules of her school to make them more ecological. She is 15. What are you doing ?

You are in the best position to change how things are, because actually you are the biggest threats. Not China or whatever, because yes, Asian factories produce a lot of things in horrible conditions, ecological as well as humanitarian, but plot twist : you are the ones consuming their production.

So yeah, to stop climate change you need to stop the big companies. But you can do that by taking shorter showers and generally thinking before buying stuff.

Also, if you do it right you save money so it’s not an excuse

the point of my addition was that taking showers instead of baths isnt going to change a goddamn thing.
