if you’re sad because john egbert is the only person with 1:1 continuity between himself at the beginning and himself at the end of the comic besides roxy and all of his friends are actually alternate-universe replicas that are almost but not entirely like the way his dead friends are, and even though he apparently “won” sburb he’s still SAD in the ending and he didnt actually win because he’s going to go get trapped in the masterpiece forever (or an indeterminate amount of time) and it’s so unfair, clap your hands!

Wwwwait but the original john from the very begining of the comic died too?  He died when Terezi sent him to fight his denizen.  Then Dave had to go back in time and become davesprite and fix it.  Then davesprite becomes davepeta…  So is Davepeta really the most long-standing homestuck character?

that doesnt count as the “original john” the moment terezi sends him to fight his denizen - then he becomes a doomed timeline john. im talking mostly about the retcon here.

I   was also extremely disappointed when they didn’t bring nepeta back i mean honestly why not? 

because hussie has a boner for subversion and what would be more subversive than retracting all of terezi’s character motivation, obliviating all of her prior friendships, and making her suddenly grow a 12 inch tall bone bulge for vriska instead of resurrecting literally any of her other friends or even any of her friends with vriska?

and then vriska magically saves the day, such as curing an alcoholic by slapping her alcohol out of her hands (why this doesn’t get argued about more on here is beyond me and if you try to tell me vriska is a good person i will frown at you until you go away).

act 6 was already shaky but the retcon is what threw everything overboard into the furnace.
