23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?
This is the first design for Scraps. while he hasn’t changed much, technically. He wasn’t a draconequus. Heck, he was still an animated toy, but he changed to be a draconequus as his design went further along. Heck, I spent ages working on his animal parts.
Heck, this wasn’t even technically Scraps when he was drafted up. It was the guy who made Scraps, but I gave up on that idea and just made it eventually into Scraps true form.
And many people probably forget that he used to have a stop watch. I got rid of it eventually since I didn’t like drawing it constantly. So that should help give you an idea of all the loose elements that got dropped.
The watch was actually a result of one of his earliest design being heavily inspired by Alice in Wonderland’s white rabbit and the Cheshire cat.
Oops.
Then he had all these weird animal parts, and I just kind of spent time cutting the fat and developing him. Streamlining is the name of the game.
The belly fuzz really helped his design, because it created a visible through-line for the design. An obvious top and bottom. So you can easily tell what his chest is, and how it’s distinct from the rest of his body. Also means his head isn’t visually different from the rest of him.
It was a LOT of trial and error and not being happy with the design.
I am Silver Tongue, I am an artist. I have many characters and you can check out my art in the art tag. I occasionally practice witchcraft though I don't do anything too complicated. I am girl 2 and don't know what else to put here.
