There’s so much misguided leftist outrage at newspapers or news programs for using language that they have to. They don’t include names of people who are not public figures in headlines (e.g. “Local girl discovers possible cure for [disease]”) because describing them gives more information than giving an unknown name. They have to ask clarifying questions about things that might seem obvious to the viewer. There are valid reasons to criticize the way news is reported, but please don’t let these aforementioned practices contribute to the anti-journalism sentiment.
