Not just a fashion statement though! Lots of horseback riders put leg boots on their horses for protection against brush, to support ligaments, etc.! It’s functional fashion :D

Here is just a BRIEF example of a few kinds of boots you may base hooves fantasy race foot/legwear on! What they look like is gonna depend on the purpose. A shopkeeper on his feet all day may wear those thick, pillowy leg wraps to prevent swelling or “stocking up,” an adventurer may choose the bottom two styles to support her ligaments and protect her legs from harsh brush and rough terrain!
