They weren’t just inaccurate to the show, they went out of their WAY to be as inaccurate in general as possible. Dammit, M. Night.

to be totally fair, I think a lot of that shit wasn’t his fault, but from what studio execs kept making him do until the point he finally just fucking gave up and clearly just sat back, tuned everything out, and started picking up a check

for one thing, Nicola Peltz 100% got the role because of nepotism and bypassed the audition process that everyone else had to go through, like Sokka, Aang, and Zuko’s actors had to go through

Interviews and post mortems have pointed out that shyamalan is basically the only one in the staff that actually saw the show, as it was his kids’ favorite show, so basically shyamalan is why the movie is as accurate as it is
